Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer anything for parents?
For years Dr. Burgess has been conducting parent training seminars/workshops and training other professionals to do so. As you well know, the middle school and high school experiences not only impact your children but also parents; and you play a critical role in their development. Many parents have found it extremely helpful to learn a myriad of tools and strategies to have a smoother ride during their child's transition periods. If you are interested in additional parenting sessions, speak to Dr. Burgess directly about scheduling & fee.
Where are your sessions held?
We hold both our high school and middle school BHIP programs at the Pediatric Psychology Center, Dr. Burgess' practice & lab location. The address is 15204 Omega Drive, Suite 220, Rockville, MD 20850. Go into the front main lobby entrance of the building and take the elevator or stairs to the second floor.
How is the program structured?
Both our high school and middle school programs include six sessions that meet once a week. Each session offers beneficial and unique components for your kids' stage of development. Before our first session and after our last session, we have voluntary assessments (questionnaires & physiological measures with simple tasks) that you can do if you choose.
How much does it cost and how do I pay?
We offer a reduced rate for the BHIP program, charging $90 per session (total $540 for the whole program). If you choose to participate in the assessments, we will collect the payment then. Otherwise we will arrange payment ahead of time before the first session begins. Payment can be processed through credit card. You can sign up and reserve your spot by clicking the button at the bottom of this page, or by visiting our sign up page!
What should I expect after I register?
Sit back and relax! You just took the first steps toward an easier middle school or high school experience for your child... and yourself! If you check your email, you should see a confirmation ticket from us. There is no need to print it off as we will check you in via name when you arrive. Dr. Burgess will be giving you a call to welcome you to the program. After that, you have the option of coming in before the first session and doing the assessment. Remember to put it down as a recurring event in your calendar!
